Required Documentation
For Host Families:
- Recent Residence Certificate: An extended residence certificate issued within the last three months by the local commune.
- Criminal Records: A criminal record extract, dated within the last three months, for each adult family member to ensure moral standards are met.
- Childcare Proof: Evidence of planned daycare for children under 6 during the au pair's stay.

Hosting Agreement
Both parties must sign a hosting agreement detailing:
- Duration of the au pair stay (not exceeding one year).
- Expected daily hours for family tasks and a provisional schedule.
- Days off.
- Accommodation conditions.
- Specific tasks assigned to the au pair and resources provided.
- Language courses funded by the host family throughout the au pair's stay.
- Pocket money amount for the au pair during the stay.
- A clause stating that the agreement is conditional upon the approval of both the host family's accreditation and the au pair's acceptance.
A sample agreement is included in the application dossier.
Application Submission
Families can complete the application either online or using the paper version. Ensure all required documents are prepared in advance, as incomplete dossiers will not be processed.
Additional Considerations
- Application Review: The SNJ oversees and manages proper administrative procedures but does not assist in matching au pairs with host families. For assistance in finding an au pair, families can consult specialized agencies or associations.
- Social Security Registration: The host family must register the au pair with the Joint Social Security Centre (CCSS) to ensure health and accident insurance coverage for the duration of the stay.
- Information Session: Upon arrival, the au pair is required to attend an information session organized by the SNJ, providing relevant information and the opportunity to meet other au pairs.
